The yacht-club was created on 7th November 1991 by the initiative of Stanislav Davydkin, Tamara Polikarpova and Irina Malashkina. The general assembly elected Stanislav Davydkin as the President. The following club-members had also played inevitable role in creation of the club: Nikolai Korjachkin, Jevgeni Ganzurov, Jevgeni Pechjonkin and Boris Borovkov.
The children section had been operating from 1991 until 2004. Its main aim was training youngsters to operate the “Optimist” yachts.
There had been operating such trainers as Stanislav Davydkin, Vikrot Egipte, Sergei Grishin and Jyri Surajev who brought up a whole new generation of young people who love sea and sails and many of which keep on winning the first prizes in the world’s most prestigious regattas. They are: R. Polikarpov, P. Antonenko, H. Melikov, A. Kydar, E. Dragunevich, R. Shirokov, D. Lushnikov, P. Aleksandrova, V. Rosenkov and many others.
Presently the children section does not operate.
In 1996, by the initiative of yacht captains and under direction of Vladimir Bobkin, there was created a cruising section attached to t he Youth Sports Club ”Baltsail” which nowadays makes up the basis of the yacht-club, and to which the present web-page is dedicated.
Yacht-club “Baltsail” is a non-commercial association of Tallinn yachtsmen, whose mutual aim is participation in sailing regattas, organization of open-sea trips and spending leisure time together.
Volunteers may join the club should they share the basic interests of the club members, recognize club-law and have recommendation of an active club-member.
Yacht Training Courses.
Since 1996 the yacht training for skippers have always been an inevitable part of the club’s activity. Most of present club members have been trained and obtained a Skippers certificates.
At present time, in co-operation with the Baltic Yachting Club and the Navy Veterans Club, we gladly offer an opportunity to be trained and pass an examination for Estonian ICC Pleasure Craft Operator or IYT International Bareboat Skipper, Small Powerboat&RIB Master, VHF Marine Radio Operator, ROC GMDSS.
